About ReNEW
ReNEW is designed to provide a multi-tiered, primary prevention program aimed at reducing the number of Manatee County teens who experience a mental health crisis.
ReNEW provides both peer education/ support and professional therapeutic services to teens at risk of experiencing a mental health crisis at no cost to them or their families.
The program is currently in its pilot phase.
The Process
The student attends Telement Therapy Wellness Check-ins
The student attends ongoing FREE Therapy Sessions*
* Telement Therapy will determine if the student is eligible for ongoing Therapy Services *
The student completes all evaluation surveys during and after the program
Peer Education Sessions
ReNEW participants will attend four group one-hour peer education sessions with Healthy Teens.
These sessions will focus on mental health topics such as how our bodies react to highly stressful situations, how we can build resilience as individuals and communities, and what neuroscience shows to be the most effective self-healing tools and techniques for ongoing wellness.
The sessions will be led by Teen Health Educators, select high school student volunteers from 9th-12th grades in the Manatee and Sarasota counties.
This program is presented in an informed yet interactive, group discussion allowing for a positive and empowering environment for each participant to be included and supported. Teen Health Educators are extensively trained on critical issues affecting youth, like mental health and self-care.
All sessions are supervised by adult staff.
Wellness Check-In
This short video is intended for the parents/caregivers of a teen who has expressed interest in participating in a ReNEW Wellness Check-in counseling session.
It describes how Telement therapists during these sessions can impart the tools and strategies to the teen that can help them resolve their mental health concerns.

Telement Therapy is a group of licensed professionals who provide therapeutic support to middle and high school students using a secure HIPAA-compliant virtual environment.
Our team is comprised of school psychologists, clinical social workers, and mental health clinicians who receive additional training to become certified telebehavioral health professionals.
